Top Trinidad Show Trotting MC Dies

SAN FERNANDO, Feb 24 – Mr. Landy de Montbrun, popular Master of Ceremonies at variety shows, died at the San Fernando General Hospital yesterday morning.
He collapsed on stage at the Rivoli Cinema here during Gasparillo Carnival Queen show last Friday night and was taken to hospital in a Fire Services Ambulance. He never recovered consciousness. Mr. de Montbrun had returned from Grenada on business only a few hours before the show. He was rushed to San Fernando from Port of Spain. The show was held back for more than half an hour awaiting his arrival and had been only half an hour in progress when he collapsed.
The show, sponsored by the Gasparillo Welfare and Development Council, went on with Mr. D.I. Lynch taking over as Master of Ceremonies.
Left to mourn are Mr. de Montbrun’s wife, Grace; his mother, Mrs. Josie de Montbrun; his four sons-Lance and Allan (Canada), Peter and Patrick-and five grandchildren.
